Folding Carton

Does J&J print, cut, fold and glue folding cartons in house?

1. Yes!

What are common types of folding carton designs?

1. Reverse Tuck End - bottom and top close on opposite sides
2. Straight Tuck End - bottom and top close on same side
3. Tuck Top Auto Bottom - carton designed to automatically set up bottom when carton is opened
4. Seal End Carton - carton top and or bottom is designed to be glued, not held closed by mechanical design.  Usually used in automated lines with glue applicators

Does J&J Produce Windowed Cartons

1. Yes!  Smallest being 2"x 1.25" and the largest being 28"x 40"
2. Polyester and acetate films

Does J&J Provide Stock Cartons?

1. We do not carry stock cartons, however we provide vendor managed inventory programs to produce and hold product for our customer's needs

Thermoformed Packaging

What are common thermoformed packages?

1. Face Seal Blisters:  PVC formed blister cavities desiged to attach to the front of a printed card
2. Clamshells (2 piece, hinged and trifold):  A thermoform that sandwiches the product between two formed sides.  Usually holds a printed card inside with product
3. Formed Trays:  Most often used for internal packaging and product presentation but this term can also apply to POP trays that hold product on countertops and shelves

What are common thermoforming materials?

1. PVC- Poly Vinyl Chloride
2. Utility PS - Polystyrene opaque or minimal color choice
3. HIPS - High Impact Polystyrene; virgin material, opaque, many color choices
4. Others; PET, RPET, ABS, HDPE:  Give us a call, we'll discuss the advantages of each material!

What does J&J offer to help with decision making?

1. 3-D image rendering within days let you see your product in the proposed package designs
2. Custom prototypes made from temporary tooling- quality is very good but production quantity is limited

What is the lead time for a custom thermoformed package?

1. Most common lead time from final design approval to finished production is typically three to four weeks
2. Speed to market can be greatly increased using J&J Packaging because we are capable of making your thermoformed components as well as your printed card and carton needs.  You'll work with one vendor and one lead time

What about tooling?

1. We will offer a number of options ranging from; you buy and own your tooling to keep costs low and give you vendor flexiblity, to we pay for tooling in order to earn your business
2. If you already have tooling and we can make it work on our machines, we will use your tools.  If some alterations need to be made, we have a full machine shop
3. Our tooling is built to be universal, it will work on any of our machines and is easily transferred to other producers should the need arise
